Who We Are

We are disciples of Jesus Christ, who worship our God, share love and friendship with one another, and are passionate about making a difference in our community and beyond. We believe that a church exists for ministry and mission as a fire exists for burning. So we share in diverse ministries such as caring for the poor and homeless of our community, partnering with a sister church in Havana, Cuba, and supporting a girl’s school in Pakistan.

We are the oldest church in the community, founded in 1850.  The current building was begun in 1867, the same year that the state chartered what became the University of Illinois. Though we’ve been here a long time, we are innovative and creative, open to the fresh winds of the Holy Spirit.

We have three priorities:

To worship – to love God more
To connect – to love people more
To serve – to love more people

We warmly welcome you!
