Chancel Choir

Weekly rehearsals:  Wednesdays 7:00-8:00 PM
Sundays:  warm-up and rehearsal-8:15 AM; service at 9:00 AM

The Chancel Choir’s purpose is to enhance worship by offering the highest quality choral music in well-crafted performances. This is achieved through a professional, friendly rehearsal atmosphere and dedication on the part of the singers. All singers are welcome to the group and those with music reading skills and/or previous choral experience are particularly encouraged to join.

We perform a wide range of literature depending on the needs of the service at hand. The music tends to be more traditional and classical in nature but we do include a wide range of styles in our worship service including African-American spirituals, contemporary anthems and solos, jazz-influenced works, as well as music from throughout the world’s varied traditions of singing.

During the Christmas season and early each spring we offer Music Sunday, at which a larger scale work with orchestra is performed. Offerings have included: excerpts from Messiah by Handel; masses by Schubert, Mozart and Haydn; Fauré’s Requiem and a Caribbean Mass with steel drum accompaniment by McClure.
