Environmental Stewardship

We at the First Presbyterian Church of Champaign, Illinois, in response to a call from the Presbyterian Church, USA, make Environmental Stewardship of God’s creation a central mission of our congregation. We will love and care for creation as God has loved and cared for us. We will draw upon the resources of our Biblical faith, as well as, those of the scientific community. We will work along with other ecological organization in the religious and secular communities for empowerment and guidance in this mission.

Since 2012, we have been a certified Earth Care Congregation.  Earth Care Congregations are congregations that have committed to the “Earth Care Pledge” and accomplished a specific number of actions toward caring for God’s earth in four categories: worship, education, facilities, and outreach.

Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) participates in the following projects:

Adopt-A-Highway

We work to clean up litter from roadways.

Bulletin Board

ECS provides lots of environmental information through a bulletin board in the north end of Westminster Hall.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE AND RETHINK!!

All members are encouraged to join ESC in educating and taking action in caring what God has created for us.
